Sounds

Surfin’ U.A.E. – I love ska – I write a lot of it in my other life as The Meow Meows‘ keyboard player, but I’ve never really had the opportunity to write a ska song with lengthy 11/4 sections and a waltz time breakdown that tips a respectful nod to noted film composer Danny Elfman. Then I realised there was nothing really stopping me. So I did it.

Irrit8 – Over-caffeinated and intentionally aggravating 8-bit influenced glitch-pop theme for student radio station with “attitude”.

—–

Tahiti’s On – Faux-Tahitian drumming piece which received internet acclaim from genuine Polynesians.

—–

Some Hallows – Spooky instrumental Halloween hip-hop fun… Gorillaz meets the Munsters.

—–

Manskini – Another ska themed song, another Mancini-style big band arrangement, this time all mashed into one. Again with live horns by those generous Meow Meows.

—–

Hasta Manana (Stride Piano ABBA Cover) – What if an unscrupulous time-travelling stride pianist had plagiarised a future ABBA hit, via a “rift” from 1930s New York to Stockholm 1974, like in Bioshock Infinite?

—–

Mick McCarthy – Sort-of-Irish folk jig named for sort-of-Irish footballer.

Variations sur “Match of the Day Theme” – A newly unearthed recording of Mozart playing the first 4 of his previously-undiscovered “Match of the Day Theme” variations. (One of my Facebook friends genuinely believed this. I know.)
